The
History of Hamilton Acorn
Norfolk Brushmakers Since 1746
by Christine Clark
A Special Offer to All!
In 1996 there was a great deal of
excitement at the University of East Anglia. Hamilton Acorn were
celebrating 250 years of manufacturing high quality brushes and the
first book written about the history of brush making for many years was
being launched!
There was a very small print run of these books, and only one edition
was ever published.
SOLD OUT!
The history of Hamilton Acorn is a
fascinating one, as the company is actually a conglomeration of many
small brushmaking firms that merged one by one into the extremely large
and successful business of today. Many of the people involved in its
history were just ordinary local brushmakers whose businesses grew from
small workshops to factories over the years.
This book is invaluable to anyone interested in the brushmaking trade,
or who wishes to learn more about those involved in brushmaking in
Norfolk.
The book gives the histories of The Star Brush Co, Briton Brushes,
Hollins Brush Co, Hamilton & Co, Chadwick and Shapcott,
S D Page, Matthew & Son. With 52 photographs and illustrations of
people, places and products, 2 plans and a Pedigree Chart for the
Company, showing how the component firms merged over the years.
Brand new, 8x6 format, soft glossy cover, 108 pages.
